The violent Gen Z protests over alleged rampant corruption and nepotism of government elites has thrown Nepal into chaos. Violence erupted in Kathmandu and several other areas as rampaging protesters set fire to the Parliament building and residences of the President, the Prime Minister and several ministers.
Amid the unrest, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned and so did several of his ministers, some of whom were chased down the streets and thrashed by protesters.

With PM Oli gone, the attention has now shifted to who will lead the interim government in the Himalayan nation.
On Wednesday, a meeting of Gen Z protesters and their allies was held at Jangi Adda, the Army Headquarters in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu to discuss the likely contenders to lead the Interim Government.

Kathmandu Mayor Balenndra Shah, also known as ‘Balen’, was among the frontrunners. However, the 35-year-old rapper-turned-politician didn’t pick up the calls made by Gen Z leaders.
Another name that came up was that of Sushila Karki, the former Chief Justice with a clean image. She expressed her readiness to take the leadership role provided she is unanimously supported by all Gen Z leaders.
Sumana Shrestha, who enjoys a significant young fan following declined the offer citing her association with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Dharan Mayor Harka Samparg also said that he was ready to take uo the leadership role in the Interim Government.
Sagar Dhakal, who contested against Sher Bahadur Deuba in the federal elections, also said that he was ready to take up the responsibility but was stuck in Dhangadhi.
The name of Kulman Ghising, who was also present in yesterday’s press release as a mentor, could also play a guiding role. Ghising is the former Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.
Rastra Bimochan Timalsena, who goes by the name Random Nepali, said he was ready to lead if no one is available. Nepali is a popular YouTuber and a lawyer by profession.
